1 June 2009 :: Ben composes score for short thriller, "Lovely." This 22 minute dramatic thriller tells the story of two brothers, who have both fallen for the same woman, which leads to their demise. What a terrific project with an African American cast, I can't wait to see it in the festivals.

28 May 2009 :: "Game Theory" plays at Denver International Film Festival and the Hoboken Film Festival. More festivals to come soon. Congratulations to director Brian Kazmarck on his success.

19 May 2009 :: Ben scores dramatic film, "The Savior." The acting in this intense story is top notch, so I really wanted the music to stay out of the way and to set a reflective and emotional mood. This project is a bit different for me, because it uses no orchestral instruments. I'm only composing for pads, metal harmonics, bowed guitars, and tibetan monk bells. You can hear the music and see the opening credits of this project on the film clips page.

19 April 2009 :: Ben is scoring the romantic drama, "Inseparable Hearts." This beautifully shot black and white film tells the story of an talented actor with no looks, and a beautiful actress with no talent who fall in love. This is a wonderful little film, but has required almost wall to wall music, so it's been keeping me busy. I hope to have some clips up on the website soon.

20 March 2009 :: Ben scores "The Maid II." This is film number two for director Maurice Moore. This story picks up where the last one left off, and it's fun to be scoring this genre again. Since part one has already had a great response from film festivals, (most recently Las Vegas,) I expect the second one to have an exciting future ahead of it.

5 January 2009 :: Ben scores trailer for documentary, "Hospice: Scenes of the Living." This wonderful trailer will be used to raise money and awareness for the hospice movement. For this project, I got to collaborate with two very talented documentary filmmakers from upstate New York.

Check out the trailer with the music I composed.

January 2009 :: "Doubt" nominated for 5 Academy Awards. Congratulations to John Patrick Shanley, Meryl Streep, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Viola Davis, you guys are the best.

22 November 2008 :: Cast & Crew screening of "Deadland Dreaming" premieres in Austin Texas. All I can say is WOW. I have never been to Austin, what a wonderful town. The screening went off really well, it was great to hear the score in 5.1 surround and try the queso. It was also exciting to meet the cast after so many months working on this project.

2 November 2008 :: Ben completes work on "Doubt."

8 September 2008 :: Ben works as a music editor on the feature film, "Doubt" starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Meryl Streep, and Amy Adams. I'm currently working with composer Howard Shore, music editor Jennifer Dunnington, and producer Scott Rudin on an intense adaptation of John Patrick Shanley's play. For this project, I am helping record and place the songs and score in the film soundtrack. It is a privilege to work with such an amazing team of talented people, although I haven't slept in weeks.

15 July 2008 :: Ben composes the music for film thriller, "The Maid" directed by Maurice Moore. This exciting little project is about a man who breaks into a women's apartment at 4 A.M. and threatens her life. If he's just a street thug, then how come he knows everything about her? For this project, I used strings and electronics to hold the audience in suspense until the last moment.

6 May 2008 :: Ben begins work on thriller film short, "Game Theory." This is a first collaboration with director Brian Kazmarck. For this project, Ben creates a thrilling emotional ride, using wild percussion, throbbing bass, sound textures, and sliced up sound files of a Mozart Requiem.

20 February 2008 :: Ben is back in LA to do fixes on the 5.1 master mix of "Deadland Dreaming."

5 December 2007 :: Ben is working on the feature film, "What Just Happened?" Ben is back in New York to help place edit the songs and score in the feature film, "What just Happened?" starring Robert DeNiro, Robin Wright Penn, and Bruce Willis. The director is Barry Levinson.

1 September 2007 :: Ben works with Re-Recording Mixer Ryan Linehan in Los Angeles on completion of the final sound mix of "Deadland Dreaming." Ryan Linehan has a background in pop-records and hip hop, and brings his experienced engineering chops in creating a final 5.1 mix for theaters.

25 June 2007 :: Ben completes the music for the feature film, "Deadland Dreaming." This dark, moody, atmospheric score is a top notch work, the result of over a year and a half of close collaboration with Austin based director Alan Ray. Selections from this score will be available soon.

April 2007 :: New website launched! The new website goes up this month. The site has a brand new look, and serves up a full menu of musical-martinis. These musical samples demonstrate some of Ben's past film music. Other samples are available upon request.

The site is looking terrific! (The pages were designed by Gabrien Symons, who runs JournalShelf.com. Please check out this link for some beautiful Italian, leather-bound journals.)

15 March 2007 :: New documentary music. Ben has completed composing a new series of documentary music cues for future uses in television & film features. For this project Ben collaborated with score mixer Ryan Linehan. Samples from this collection should be available for listening in the near future.

1 February 2007 :: Ben records film score with artist, Limit 2 Infinity. Ben's original score to Deadland Dreaming will feature vocals by recording artist Limit 2 Infinity, which were recorded in Los Angeles this February. You can hear her own original songs at: myspace.com/limit2infinity.

15 December 2006 :: Ben to compose the score for the feature length film, Deadland Dreaming. This black and white noir film, directed by Alan Ray, is headed to Sundance and Slamdance film festivals this year. It’s got a terrific cast of actors, and has it’s own unique, artistic vision.

I’m looking forward to working with director Alan Ray to create something unique. More news on this as it develops.

25 September 2006 :: Ben Completes Work on The Departed. After a long, five-month haul on “The Departed,” the film is finally done. The director is Martin Scorsese. It’s due in theaters on October 6th.

For this feature, I helped edit and place the songs and score that are in the film. The score is by “Lord of the Rings” composer, Howard Shore, who wrote a tango for the main theme. The songs are a variety of rock tunes, ranging from The Dropkick Murphys to Italian opera, to Patsy Cline.

1 May 2006 :: Ben Begins Work on The Departed. This is my second film working with Scorsese. The first one was The Aviator. Unlike most other directors, when you work with Marty, you work intensely on the music for 5 to 6 months, with no stopping.

It’s always an amazing experience, but sure to give us music editors grey hair. The other terrific music editors are Jennifer Dunnington and Tass Filipos. They are the best of the best, and it’s a privilege to work with them.
